Overview

About Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world and the highest point in Africa. A non-technical trek that anyone reasonably fit can attempt, it rewards climbers with five distinct climate zones — from rainforest to arctic summit — and an unforgettable sunrise over the continent from Uhuru Peak.

01

Choosing your route

We guide all the main routes: Machame for scenery and a strong success rate, Lemosho for the best acclimatization, Marangu for hut accommodation, and Rongai for a quieter, drier northern approach. Longer itineraries mean better acclimatization and higher summit success.

02

Safety and acclimatization

Your climb is supported by experienced mountain crews, daily health checks with a pulse oximeter, and a climb-high, sleep-low profile. We never rush the schedule — 'pole pole' (slowly, slowly) is the proven path to the summit.

03

What's included

Park and rescue fees, professional guides, cooks and porters, quality camping equipment, all mountain meals and airport transfers. We also help with gear lists, training advice and optional safari or Zanzibar add-ons.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need climbing experience?

No. Kilimanjaro is a trek, not a technical climb — no ropes or special skills are required. Good general fitness and the right acclimatization schedule matter most.

How many days should I climb?

We recommend 7 to 8 days. The extra day dramatically improves acclimatization and your chance of reaching the summit.

What is the success rate?

Success depends heavily on route length. On our 7–8 day climbs, the large majority of fit, well-prepared climbers reach Uhuru Peak.

When is the best time to climb?

The clearest months are January to mid-March and June to October. We avoid the heaviest rains of April and November.
