Overview
The Serengeti is the heart of any East African safari — a vast ecosystem of golden plains, granite kopjes and riverine forest that hosts the largest overland wildlife migration on earth. Paired with the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Kenya's Masai Mara, it offers some of the most rewarding game viewing anywhere.
The greater Serengeti spans nearly 30,000 square kilometres, connecting Tanzania's northern parks with Kenya's Masai Mara. Resident lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo are present year-round, while the wildebeest migration moves through on a seasonal loop of calving, grazing and dramatic river crossings.
There is no bad time for a Serengeti safari. The dry season (June to October) brings easy game viewing and the famous Mara River crossings in the north. The green season (November to March) is quieter and greener, peaking with the calving herds on the southern plains around February.

Good to know
Most travelers spend between 5 and 9 days on the northern circuit. A week allows time for Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater and two or three nights in the Serengeti itself.
The herds are in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu from December to March (calving), move north from April, and reach the Mara River crossings from July to October.
Almost all of our safaris are private, with your own vehicle and guide. Shared departures can be arranged on request to lower the cost.
