The Serengeti and the Masai Mara are the same ecosystem, split by a border. The migration spends most of the year in Tanzania and crosses into Kenya around July to October.

Tanzania offers more wilderness and variety — the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and the option to add Kilimanjaro or Zanzibar in one trip.
Kenya's strengths
Kenya is easy to reach, often a little cheaper, and the Masai Mara delivers exceptional big-cat viewing in a compact area, ideal for shorter trips.
